Ah yes, my first pregnancy test, I remember it well. Right after my niece was born, I was visiting and my sister-in-law commented that I’d been to the bathroom about 20 times in the short time I was there. She suggested I might be pregnant, and I laughed. The next morning, I woke up and vomited. I was not the most regular as far as my menstrual cycle, it is hard to say how late you are when you don’t have a solid number to judge this. I estimated I was just a few days late, but thought little of it.
Thirty seven trips to the bathroom later, I called my sister-in-law to see if she’d go to the drugstore with me to pick up a test since my husband was at work and I wasn’t sure what to buy. I had once tried a pregnancy test in the past that required mixing and gave me a result that didn’t even faintly resemble the illustrations on the box. My sister in law suggested that having the extra test would be a good idea in case of an unclear result or to save for later in case I was testing too soon. I put the box in the cart and laughed remembering that my last purchase at this particular Osco was a big box of Tampax.
We went back to my sister-in-law’s house because my husband was still at work and I didn’t want to be alone. I opened the box and read the directions. Basically you were supposed to hold the test stick in your urine stream and then wait to see one blue line that indicates the test is “working” and a second if you are indeed in a family way. The box said it might take minute for the results to appear. It took less than 30 seconds. I saw the test turn blue as can be and did a double take, a triple take and called my sister-in-law for a second opinion. Yes, I was pregnant.
I admit I found it hard to believe that a test would indicate pregnancy so early on and so easily, and a few hours later took the second test just to be sure. Again, I saw blue. Eight months later, I saw pink, and we named her Amanda. For my second pregnancy, I again tested within days of my missed period and again had easy and accurate results.
I would recommend this test for its ease of use and its accuracy. In my case, it gave me results very early in the pregnancies which is very important, it allowed me to seek prenatal care early and to begin important things like taking my prenatal vitamins. Not having to mix or otherwise have added steps in testing is another big plus, who wants to play science lab at a time like this? The name suits the product, giving clear and easy results. If you suspect the stork might be visiting you, this is a simple and dependable way to confirm it.
