I’m trying to expand my visual horizons by not looking up dissolution every time some dimwitted doomfook tries to tell me how to write. For a comical bat-in-the-@$$ revolver (ouch Oscar, ouch!), I think I’ll go read their snooze, ooze with drooze, reviews! I need more booze! Ha! Dr. Seuss couldn’t write a review like you Snoozle! You da expert!
I’ve been busy as of late trying to bring up another kid. I am closer to this one because it has my eyes. So, I want the best for Chucky. The damn rubbery $h!tty pacifiers (the fat lady at intensive care calls them Nookies) kept popping out of my kid’s mouth. And, if you’re like me, that’s annoying when you’re trying to enjoy “Me Time”. I damn near strapped the pacifier in my kid’s mouth just so I could successfully play my Nintendo and listen to my new rave CD. Okay, I don’t have any kids. And I especially don’t listen to rave music. I’m sorry, I don’t even know what rave music is……… but I hear the Nuk pacifiers are all the rage . . .
Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic
I do know Prince when I hear him though. He is a purple chameleon of sorts. One thing is for certain amongst all, he is a true musician..whether you consider him a genius or not is a totally different story. And I don’t just mean because he wrote a song called ‘1999’ in the 80s. If I wrote a song called ‘2008’ you wouldn’t call me a genius either (for different reasons?).
His body of work is so vast-yet-influential; that I think a purple Batman umbrella or a raspberry light of wonderment couldn’t contain his wizardry. In fact, I know it couldn’t. Prince, here on Rave, is still the sexy motherfunker that he’s always been. Especially with the sensual ‘Hot Wit U’ and the guitar-rockin’ nastiness of ‘Tangerine’. The good news is, while Prince remains fresh, songs such as ‘Tangerine’ and ‘The Sun, The Moon, and Stars’ could fit nicely next to ‘Raspberry Beret’ and ‘Little Red Corvette’. Yes Prince fans of yore, this album is the return you have been waiting for.
Gwen, Sheryl, and Chuck are in the album, but their appearances never bring presence. They are just instruments for Prince’s established sound and style. If you swing a bat in a room of colored songcrafted lights (John Shafter gets pointed!), you could easily smash a Stefaniated remix ever-so-blessed with her vocal presence. Not on Rave Un2. Again just an instrument in the Prince Process.
The music is wonderful in its Princeness. Enough said about that. Then look at the paperwork that accompanies the plastic. Beautifully Prince-a-rific! And the then peer inside the CD’s padded walls of zany craziness and examine the productions layers carefully……Prince, you did it again!
